Jeremy’s Circle, a nonprofit organization supporting children and teens growing up in the shadow of cancer in their immediate family, held its first fundraising event in Connecticut, led by the organization’s chairperson Dr. Stephanie Becker. The event aimed to expand support for the organization’s activities and introduce the American Jewish community to the extensive work of the organization, which currently accompanies over 1,200 families.
The event featured Einat Admony, one of New York’s leading and most influential chefs, a James Beard Award nominee, and the force behind the renowned restaurants Balaboosta and Moondog HiFi. Admony served a special menu inspired by her contemporary Israeli cuisine. She was joined by Jacob Ner-David, an award-winning winemaker from Jezreel Valley Winery, who led tastings of authentically Israeli wines that have received international recognition.
The event was attended by dozens of donors and longtime supporters alongside new supporters who expressed interest in the organization’s work. The event’s donations will help expand Jeremy’s Circle’s activities in Israel and strengthen emotional, social, and community support for children and teens coping with serious illness in their families. Over the past year, the organization has significantly expanded its activities, holding its first summer camp ‘Camp Jeremy,’ sending an expedition to the summit of Kilimanjaro, and reaching a peak of approximately 3,000 participants in the organization’s activities.
Dr. Stephanie Becker, chairperson of Jeremy’s Circle, said: “The Connecticut event connected an amazing community to our families in Israel. It was a moving opportunity to expand the circle of support and ensure that no child feels alone in coping with illness in their immediate family. When someone at home is sick, the entire family is affected, and sometimes children are pushed aside because household resources are directed toward caring for the patient. Jeremy’s Circle was established precisely to help, support, and give children a sense of belonging, resilience, and community support through shared activities. The donations from the event will allow us to continue providing children and teens with moments of joy, pleasure, and a safe space even during the most difficult times.”
